Two years have passed since Percy Jackson & The Olympians Jackson & The Olympians author Rick Riordan said he was battling Disney+ to get a live-action series greenlit. We know the specific person who will take Logan Lerman's place as the titular hero. The author previously revealed that the go-ahead had been given in January. Walker Scobell will play the lead in the next Percy Jackson reboot.

Although Percy Jackson started filming this past June after two years of pre-production development, bringing together a new core trio of Walker Scobell (The Adam Project), Leah Jeffries (Beast), and Aryan Simhadri, as Riordan underlined, these actors would contribute new interpretations to the parts of Percy, Annabeth, and Grover because the next series has no connections to the books. However, Alexandra Daddario praised the new cast in her latest interview.

Alexandra Is Excited For The Cast Of 'Percy Jackson' Reboot

Although the two movies are distinct in a way, Camp Half-younger Blood's generation has received support from Percy Jackson movie actors. Alexandra Daddario shared her thoughts on playing Annabeth Chase with ComicBook while promoting Mayfair Witches. She also expressed her excitement for Jeffries' upcoming performance.

"It's wonderful. That movie was so great for my career. It was great for my life," Daddario said. "It was a wonderful part to play and I'm so excited for her that she gets to play it. The Percy Jackson books are so beloved. I was just a small part of it."

The Synopsis Of 'Percy Jackson'

In the novel series (authored by Rick Riordan), Annabeth is a smart strategist with a lively and curious mind. She is the real daughter of the Greek goddess Athena. She yearns to put her skills to the test in the human world, which she barely recalls, after spending the last five years at Camp Half-Blood. She teaches Percy how to survive in the mythical realm, and he, in turn, helps her rediscover her humanity. She is also depicted as white in the literature.

Alexandra Once Played Annabeth

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and its sequel, The Sea of Monsters, featured Alexandra Daddario in the character of Annabeth. Although the movies received negative reviews and had underwhelming box office returns (which is why we didn't see more), they nonetheless developed a following. Daddario has already expressed her support for the new show. Still, when it became known that Leah Jeffries' casting had sparked criticism and abuse on her social media accounts, Daddario stepped forward to support her. Still, she avoided explicitly addressing any of the backlashes.

Fortunately, Percy Jackson and the Olympians show that Disney has continued diversifying its cinematic ventures despite the backlash. However, Leah Jeffries will play everyone's favorite daughter of Athena, and it appears that most fans (as well as Alexandra Daddario) cannot wait to watch the performance.

There is no date for the release of Percy Jackson and the Olympians yet.
