Living with people and becoming dependent on them is never easy, especially when your accommodation has rules! Sometimes, you may get lucky and co-habit with an understanding person, and other times, you'd draw the shortest end of the stick.

You'd expect family members to be the most understanding, but they're often the least easy to live with for ideology and personal differences.

A Reddit user made life with her hell for her niece, yet she wanted validation from people in the Am I The A-Hole subreddit. After sharing her story, there was only one answer - "You're the Jerk!"

Keep reading to find out what she did.

Amy Is Upset With Her Aunt

The poster is a 30-year-old woman married to a 34-year-old man, and she welcomed her 22-year-old niece into her house. Amy isn't related to her directly as she's her husband's niece through his half-brother (which explains the animosity.)

Amy bunked in her house for almost two weeks to take a school exam due to the location's proximity to her uncle's house. Although she didn't pay rent, the young lady contributed to the utility bills. Her aunt agreed that she wasn't allowed to socialize in their home.

When Amy's husband visited to give her some school reports she had forgotten at home, the 22-year-old treated him to some coffee for a bit due to his long journey. As a result, her aunt returned and met him there, causing an argument between them.

The aunt insisted that her husband constituted a guest, and by entertaining him, she broke the rules of their agreement while Amy retorted, saying there should be exceptions. The families are at odds as Amy is refusing to pick up any calls so is her dad. The lady doesn't think she was wrong.

There Was No Excuse For The Aunt's Bad Behavior

I agree with every commenter confused by the story because it's bogus! It's one thing to restrict visits in your home for a grown adult but another to throw a fit over them inviting their spouse!

She trivialized Amy's marriage by qualifying her husband as "having men over," and it's ridiculous that we're even analyzing this situation.

It was already clear from her wording that the poster disliked Amy as she ensured emphasis on the 22-year-old's relationship with her husband.

Amy's right to stay far away from them and her husband was right to call the aunt out as a mean person because her attitude was unnecessary.
