Dads and daughters have a special bond. Girls look to their fathers to lay a foundation of security, trust, and love. Not all dad-daughter relationships are perfect, however, and even good fathers can make mistakes.
One dad shared the story of his fractured relationship with her daughter on Reddit. The 71-year-old father, who is known in the community as u/DIYdadFLguy15, got into a falling-out with his pregnant daughter, Cara, because of a failed home repair project.
This issue started when he offered to help install new floors on his daughter's home. He made a recommendation to demo floors and cabinets, which he promised to fix. But, because of his busy schedule and other unforeseen factors, the project turned out to be bigger than he anticipated and wasn't repaired as quickly as everyone hoped. All the mess caused stress on Cara, who was worried it might affect her pregnancy.
The two tried to talk it out and Cara claims the dad didn't want to take ownership of the problem, while the dad didn't think he did anything wrong at all. Now, he is refusing to attend his daughter's upcoming baby shower and the two are not talking anymore.
Is he wrong for not lowering his pride?
